This is the opening exploratory work on conveying movement on a 2 dimensional surface, using different visual elements and a variety of techniques in an experiemnetal way. We used a Channel 4 series entitlesd Dance on Water and worked spontaneouly as the film was being shown. The film was stopped at varoius points to reveal abstract images that challenged pupils ideas about representational views of conveying movment in art. Artists explored in this project were the Futurists - Boccioni, Balla, and also Du Champ, Picasso, as well as the developments in photography through the work of Muybridge. The project moved into sculptural forms, constructed from card and chicken wire.
